The LIFE programme has been operating in Latvia for 15 years, and so far, 46 projects have been implemented with the financial aid thereof.
With the total budget exceeding 40 million euro, several specially protected nature areas have been restored, conservation actions for endangered plant and animal species have been developed and implemented, protected habitats have been restored, solutions for the generation of alternative energy and reduction of CO2 have been sought and found, as well as several information campaigns have been implemented within the programme.
On 30 November, this year, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development in cooperation with the Latvian Environmental Protection Fund, within the project CAP LIFE LAT, organise a celebrate of the 15th anniversary of the LIFE in Latvia.
During the event, local and foreign experts will present achievements of the LIFE programme in Latvia and Europe. The most successful LIFE projects implemented in Latvia so far will be honoured at the event.
