The objective of the project was to ensure a long-term protection of habitats and species of European significance, implementing the measures envisaged in the nature protection plan. An important component of the project was the promotion of public participation. In order to preserve and cultivate the outstanding natural values of Ķemeri National Park, a lot of work and investments should be injected. The target area of the project takes up about half of the national park – 19 500 ha. The LIFE project was the first step towards the implementation of the management plan. Specific, modern management techniques were introduced in the result of the project, by the aid of which the biological value of the park’s wetlands was maintained.
