The objectives of the project were related to the improvement of the water condition of the Ziemeļsusēja river. The main tasks of the project were to reduce the pollution of the Ziemeļsusēja river basin, to create an innovative system of the river basin management suited to the Latvian conditions which would provide cooperation between local governments, national authorities, and the community, to develop indicators and procedures that would allow to state water quality in the river basin and to ensure quality monitoring.
