\n\tDuring the project, the guidelines for the management and protection of the coastal, freshwater, grassland, mires, forest and rocky habitats are developed. In order to check the habitat management methods and assess their effectiveness, a series of experimental management work in different regions of Latvia has been carried out. In the development of the guidelines of the habitat protection, not only nature experts but also the representatives of the government and non-governmental organizations were involved, which contributed to the inclusion of the guidelines in the planning documents of the local governments and the State. In the course of the project, “Natura 2000 Site Management Program” is developed where both the habitat conservation status and the priority protection and management measures are assessed to promote common conservation of natural values in all terrestrial Natura 2000 sites.<\/p>\n
